Job Title: Long-Term Special Education Substitute Teacher
Location: RCES
Reports To: Principal or Designee
Job Overview:
The Long-Term Special Education Substitute Teacher provides instruction and support for students with disabilities in the absence of the regular Special Education teacher. This individual is responsible for delivering educational services that meet the individualized needs of students with special needs, following their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
- Current teaching certification or special education endorsement is preferred but not required for substitutes.

Experience:
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Experience managing a classroom and delivering individualized instruction.

Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and instructional best practices.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet student needs.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families from diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed for mobility or activities.
- Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques, when necessary.
Term of Employment:
- The position is temporary and will cover the duration of employee leave = 12 weeks
- Expected dates: 12/16/24 to 03/14/25 (subject to change based on district needs).
Salary/Compensation:
- Pay is based on the school district’s substitute teacher pay scale.
- Additional compensation may be provided based on experience and qualifications.
